Team Ready Trivia History

The “World’s Largest Trivia Contest” is held each April in Stevens Point, also known as 90FM Trivia since it’s hosted by the UWSP Campus Radio Station.  Tens of thousands of participants make up the several hundred teams that annually compete to answer relatively useless trivia questions.  Trophies are given to the top handful of teams, but otherwise most teams just compete for pride and camaraderie.

Beginning at 6pm on Friday night and concluding at Midnight on Sunday, 8 questions are asked during each of the 54 hours of the contest.  Questions and answers are read over the radio, with teams given the length of two songs to call in their guesses. Points vary depending upon how many of the teams get the answer correct. Additional bonus points are awarded for completing music snippets, trivia stones and running questions.

Some of our current team members began playing on other existing teams of family and friends. As the number of camp alumni players began to grow, forming our own team only seemed logical.  Originally known as Team Smiley, from the camp logo, the team name eventually switched to Team Ready after being established in the fall of 2000.

Team Ready players are mostly about coming together annually for a good social time.  While never spending much time preparing before the weekend, Team Ready has always finished in the top half of the teams with a goal of cracking the top 100.  But more importantly, the amount of team participation grows each year, which makes for more fun and the opportunity to continue more old friendships.
